Hand Crafted in the USA Jewelry & Keepsake Boxes

My name is Frank Kiska & myself & my wife Carmen are the owner-operators of Northern Lights Woodcraft here in Gooding, Idaho. After 22 years in the Furniture Restoration, Repair & Refinishing business back in Pennsylvania…we pulled up stakes & moved to Idaho in 2003.

Throughout the years in the Restoration Business, we came across virtually any style of furniture that has been made over the past 200 years. The different types of woods, finishes and joinery were always fascinating to us…especially on the older (100 years or more) pieces. The reason that these particular pieces have survived so long is that they were built to last. The craftsman who built them used only the best lumber and assembled these pieces with glued joinery methods that made the finished product rock solid. These master craftsman knew better than to use nails or screws to assemble joints…they knew that this would never hold up in the long run. The way they did their woodworking took a lot of time and patience and the fact that their products are still around today is a tribute to their craftsmanship.

In the “disposable” society that we live in today, it is hard to find a product that will stand the test of time. In our years in the Restoration business, we have learned how to build a quality product that will last for generations… using the principles of lumber selection and joinery that the old masters used. All of our Jewelry Boxes are built this way and if properly taken care of will last for a very long time. Maybe in about 100 years, a Restoration Artist will look at one of our boxes and put us into the same category as the Master Craftsman that I talked about. It would be an honor to be associated with them.
